PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control the low power of a fixing device so as to remarkably shorten the recovery time from the low power condition of the device or the energy saving mode condition. SOLUTION: Maximum power is supplied to heating members L1, L2 of a fixing device to warm the fixing device from the build up temperature to a high fixing temperature, the supply of the maximum power is stopped, then the power is supplied to the heating members L1, L2 to control the temperature of the fixing device to a high fixing temperature. For the control, a primary power source PS1 is turned on and off, an idling period continuing during the period of the specified length during which the fixing device is controlled to the high fixing temperature is discriminated to align timing, the primary power source PS1 is turned off at the end of the idling period continuing during the length of the specified time, a secondary power source PS2 having the lower level than the primary power source PS1 is immediately turned on, and when the temperature of the fixing device is still practically high, power in the energy saving mode level is immediately supplied to the heating members. |
