PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically select another input/output path and retry write-back processing if trouble occurs when host data stored in a cache memory are written back to a magnetic disk drive. SOLUTION: The magnetic disk processor 10 have plural input/output paths to a magnetic disk drive 20, and data transfer on the respective input/output paths is controlled by directors, which can exchange information through a common memory 6. Here, if trouble occurs when one director writes the host data in the cache memory 5 back to the magnetic disk drive 20, another system director is requested to perform write-back processing by using the common memory 6, and the director writes the host data in the cache memory 5 back in response to the write-back request and returns the write-back result. Consequently, a normal input/output path is automatically selected and the write-back processing can be performed in case of trouble. |
