PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably perform focusing to a target object part regardlessly of any condition of object and photographing in an image pickup device having an exchangeable lens unit and an automatic focusing function. SOLUTION: Image pickup light from the object passing through a lens group including a focusing lens 105 for focusing is converted to an image pickup signal (electric signal) by image pickup elements 106 to 108, and converted to a prescribed video signal by a camera signal processing circuit 112. An AF evaluation value is extracted from a predetermined detection area inside the image pickup image plane in accordance with focusing degree by an AF signal processing circuit 113, the lens 105 is driven to a focusing position, based on the AF evaluation value, and also the AF evaluation value extracted by the circuit 113 is varied in accordance with the signal from a lens microcomputer 116. |
