Valve drive interrupter for motor vehicle IC engine

The interrupter prevents power transmission between a cam shaft (6) and valve (4). There is a pivoting rocker (12) between the camshaft and valve with an adjusting slide (16) for the valve. The rocker contains a drive transmission catch (24) connected to an adjuster (40,42,46,48) so that, on one position, a rigid drive connection is formed between the rocker and valve, and in a second position, no drive is transmitted. The catch can have a shaft with a cut out section which can rotate for selective engagement with the valve adjuster slide. The valve adjuster slide is operational on the rocker and is movable relative to the rocker.
