DELAY-EXCEEDED-DISCARD PROCESSING SYSTEM IN NETWORK CONNECTION DEVICE HAVING BRIDGING FUNCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the transmission processing performance of a network connection device. SOLUTION: A packet and a time stamp are stored in a buffer and a transmission destination port is decided. When a vacancy exists in a transmission queue provided in the transmission destination port, transmission information on the address of the packet is queued in the transmission queue. When there is no vacancy in the transmission queue, a system waits until the spaces is made. Then, lapse time from the time stamp of the packet is calculated when the space is made in the transmission queue. When the lapse time is less than the time of maximum bridge transfer delay, transmission information of the packet is queued in the transmission queue. When the lapse time exceeds the time of maximum bridge transfer delay, the packet is discarded.
