PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antimicrobial water-absorbing sheet excellent in antibacterial and mildew-resistant properties, water absorption, mechanical properties, for example, bending strength, dimensional stability and processability. SOLUTION: This antimicrobial and water-absorbing sheet comprises hydrophilic modified cross section fiber having one or more continuous or discontinuous grooves on its surface, binder fiber and antimicrobial fiber with a density of 0.25-0.4g/m<3> in which the content of the binder fiber is 15-25wt.% based on the whole solid and the fineness of the binder fiber is >=3 denier. Or this antimicrobial and water-absorbing sheet comprises hydrophilic modified cross section fiber having one or more continuous or discontinuous grooves on its surface, binder fiber, antimicrobial fiber and high modulus fiber with a density of 0.25-0.4g/m<3> in which the content of the binder fiber is 15-25wt.% based on the whole solid and the fineness of the binder fiber is >=3 denier. The modified cross section fiber is preferably poly(vinyl alcohol) fiber. |
