<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new compound composed of a specific metallocene complex and useful as a polymerization catalyst for the production of a polyolefin having high molecular weight from an olefin. SOLUTION: This cyclopentadiene compound is expressed by the formula I (Cp is a group having cyclopentadienyl skeleton; A<1> is a bivalent residue containing a group 15 atom of the periodic table of elements; A<2> is a bivalent residue containing a group 15 or group 16 atom of the periodic table of elements; R<1> to R<4> are each H, a halogen, etc.), e.g. (cyclopentadienyl) (3-t-butyl-5 methyl-2-hydroxyphenyl)phenylphosphine. The compound of the formula I can be produced by reacting a compound of the formula II (Z<1> is a halogen) with a compound of the formula R<6> Q (R<6> is an alkoxymethyl; Q is a halogen), reacting the resultant halobenzene derivative with an alkaline earth metal, etc., reacting the produced aryl metal compound with a dihalogen compound, etc., to obtain a cyclopentadiene compound having protecting group and reacting the compound with a protonic acid.</p> |
