For optimal coating results with optimal energy use, a device and process for coating a workpiece (1) wherein the workpiece (1) is inductively heated before and/or after the coating medium is applied and wherein the coated workpiece (1) is subjected to a follow-on heat treatment for drying, reaction finishing or curing of the coating are characterized in that a thermally insulated chamber (3) with an integrated induction heating device (4) is provided for inductive heating of the workpiece (1) and in that the heat given off during and after the inductive heating is used for heating the chamber (3) and for the follow-on heat treatment.
