Treatment for effluent air containing volatile organic compounds from e.g. printing and adhesion processes

This novel method for combined effluent air purification and energy generation is applied in plants using organic solvents, e.g. in the printing of sheets or webs of materials. The solvent emissions are burned off as fuel in the internal combustion engine of a combined engine-generator unit. Preferably, the plant employs one or more of the following printing processes: rotary, screen or ink-jet. It is alternatively a painting-, coating-, lining-, pressing-, bonding or adhering plant. Air laden with solvent is supplied to the internal combustion engine of a generator module, where it is completely burned. Additional fuel may be added.
