PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cut the unnecessary light for image display, and to improve the quality of display by providing a means for absorbing or reflecting the near infrared rays in a flat surface display device, which is provided with a pair of plates for regulating a gas discharge space sealing the gas for discharge light emission. SOLUTION: In a flat surface display device provided with a pair of plates 21, 22 for regulating a gas discharge space 30, in which the gas for discharge light emission is sealed, means 6-9 for absorbing or reflecting the near infrared rays are provided. These means 6-9 are provided in a front surface plate 21 of the pair of plates and a protecting plate 1. The means 6-9 are optical films, which function as a film for transmitting the visible light wavelength and for preventing reflection of the visible light wavelength and which function as a film for reflecting and absorbing the near infrared rays wavelength, and formed of a multiple layered film, which is formed by laminating a high refraction factor film 10a and a low refraction factor film 10b. The means 8 is an infrared ray absorbing film made of the resin, which contains the dye made of the organic compound. |
