Teaching aid permits observation of earth-dwelling insects in-situ

This novel instructional aid (1) permits observation of earth-dwelling organisms, especially insects. It comprises a frame (2) bordering an opening (13), which is laid on the ground surface. On the frame, anchorages (14) hold it down. In the frame, a clear transparent pane (3) covers the opening, sealing it. A covering slab (4) makes a light-tight closure for the opening. The pane is preferably made of clear glass or plastic, e.g. an acrylic sheet. Natural or artificial stone makes a suitable cover.
