In order to splice a broken yarn, at an open end spinner, the compressed air through the take-off jet opposite the rotor is blown centrally into the rotor cup. The blown compressed air is stopped when the first fibres for splicing a yarn are fed into the rotor. Also claimed is an open end spinner with a compressed air channel (31) which opens into the take-off tube (28) behind the take-off jet (27), in the yarn take-off direction (56).
