This invention relates to transmission lines for transmitting voltage and current. A transmission line according to the invention has a pair of spaced conductors with a core layer between the spaced conductors. The layer has a first material with a permittivity and permeability value and is in contact with the first conductor. The layer also has a second material with a different permittivity and permeability value than those of the first material. The second material is placed in contact with the second conductor. The first and second materials are in contact with each other. The materials are selected in order to give the transmission line desirable permeability and permittivity values to control the transmission velocity and characteristic impedance of the transmission line. Other configurations such as an oval shaped guided energy transformer or a guided energy transformer having three transmission lines according to the above design are also disclosed. |
