PURPOSE:To realize positive and instantaneous starting by causing LC resonance through through-in of DC power supply thereby feeding base current to a transistor. CONSTITUTION:At the time of starting, a current is fed through a starting resistor 38 to the base of a transistor 28 which is thereby turned ON to feed power to a discharge lamp 42. Immediately upon DC current supply from a DC power supply circuit 21, series LC resonance takes place between the inductance of the secondary winding 29b of a drive transformer 29 and the capacitances of capacitors 32, 34, and a large current is fed to the base of the transistor 28 thus immediately turning the transistor 28 ON. |
