The invention concerns a hydraulic vehicle braking system (10) with an anti-locking and traction control device. It has a main brake cylinder (12), which is connected to a wheel brake cylinder (16). A reversing valve (18) is connected downstream to the main brake cylinder (12) and an intake valve (20) is connected upstream to the wheel brake cyclinder (16). Parallel to the intake valve (20), an exhaust valve (24) and the suction side of a return pump (26) are connected to the wheel brake cylinder (16). The delivery side of the return pump (26) runs between the reversing valve (18) and the intake valve (20). The suction side of the return pump (26) is connected to the main brake cylinder (12) by a suction valve (36). To limit brake fluid pressure on the delivery side of the return pump or on the wheel brake cylinder side of the reversing valve (18) during traction control and when the reversing valve (18) is closed, the suction valve (36) is open and the return pump is activated, the invention proposes a suction limiting valve (46) which can be switched hydraulically to a blocking position by brake fluid pressure on the delivery side of the return pump, to be arranged on the suction side of the return pump (26).
