PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ultra fine self-welded flat type insulated electric wire, wherein an insulating coat layer having uniform thickness is formed on the outer periphery of a flat type conductor, by oxidizing the copper of a flat type conductor to form a thin coat layer of a copper oxide, to adopt this coat layer as the insulating coat layer. SOLUTION: An oxidized coat layer 3, having uniform thickness in a flat part 2a, an R part 2b, and an edge part 2c too, is formed on the outer periphery of a flat type conductor 2 having a width thickness of 0.5mm or less. Also, a self-fusion layer 4 is formed on the outer periphery of the oxidized coat layer 3. That is, the oxidized coat layer 3 is formed on the outer periphery of the flat type conductor 2 so as to have a thickens of 0.3-0.8μm, by merely passing the flat type conductor 2 one to several times in a heating furnace. After that, the self-fusion layer 4 is formed on the outer periphery of the oxidized coat layer 3, thereby completing an ultra fine self-welded flat type insulting electric wire 1.
