PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface acoustic wave transducer operating at high harmonics, utilizing a new weighting method. SOLUTION: A couple of electrode terminals 2, 2 and a plurality of electrode fingers 3, 3 extended interdigitally from a couple of the electrode terminals 2, 2 are formed on a piezoelectric substrate 1, a periodλ0 of the electrode fingers 3 is selected to be equal to a wavelength of a stimulated surface acoustic wave, each electrode finger 3 is divided into M steps, where M is a degree of a harmonic component desired to be stimulated, the steps of each electrode finger 3 are connected while being deviated byλ0 /M each in the propagation direction of the surface acoustic wave, and the metallization ratioηis changed for each electrode finger depending on a frequency characteristic desired to be realized for the surface acoustic wave transducer.
