A novel dye composition comprises, by wt. (A) 0.1-30, preferably 1-15%, anthraquinone and/or quinophthalone dye free of ionic groups; (B) 0.1-20, preferably 0.5-10%, dispersant based on an arylsulphonic acid-formaldehyde condensate; and optionally (C) water. Optionally present are (D) 0.1-30% carbohydrate and (E) 0.1-20% polyethylene glycol.
