<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform a cleaning operation based on a proper using method by guiding a user to perform a cleaning operation when a loaded cassette tape is determined to be a cleaning tape and automatically stopping this operation. SOLUTION: A mode control microcomputer 3 determines whether a loaded cassette tape is a normal recording/reproducing tape or a cleaning tape based on a cassette class identifying signal detected from a tape cassette 10 via an identification means interface circuit 2. If it is a cleaning tape, an instruction is issued to an on-screen control circuit 4 so as to transmit character information to a video signal processing circuit 5 and a video signal containing a specified message is outputted from its terminal 5a. A user re-confirms, from a monitor screen, that the loaded tape cassette 10 is a cleaning tape and thereby knows the on-going cleaning operation.</p> |
