Call connection construction for data transmission system

A connection is constructed between a data transmission system and a subscriber instrument. The subscriber instrument is one of two subscriber instruments, such as a telephone appts. and a facsimile device, connected at a subscriber connection of the data transmission system. Data specific to the subscriber instrument of the connection are stored in the data transmission system, and the connection is constructed in response to the subscriber instrument data. Two connection indices are logically associated with the subscriber connection. One of the connection indices is logically associated with the respective subscriber instrument connected to the named subscriber connection, for forming the first subscriber instrument data. At the construction of an incoming connection to the subscriber connection, a selected connection index is received, associated logically with the subscriber instrument to be connected, and the respective subscriber instrument is connected.
