TELECONFERENCING SYSTEM

A teleconferencing system has a dynamically designated master station or stations which provides commands to slave stations to retrieve and display information stored in memory at the slave stations, while voice communications take place over a channel on the communications medium. Since it is only necessary to transmit voice information and commands, with appropriate parameters attached in some cases, the need to transmit large amounts of data to generate displays at each of the stations participating in a teleconference is reduced. As a result, lower bandwidth telecommunications media, such as telephone lines, can be used to conduct a teleconference.
