Regulating method for regulating volumetric fuel flow from feeder pump to high pressure pump in IC engine common rail fuel injection system

The method involves discharging fuel at a limit pressure from a high pressure reservoir (5) connected to the high pressure pump (3) via a high pressure valve (4). The fuel flow between the feeder pump (1) and the high pressure pump is regulated as a function of the discharged fuel quantity. The flow can be regulated by varying the fuel pressure between the feeder pump and the high pressure pump. The cross-section of the line connecting the feeder pump and the high pressure pump can also be varied to regulated the flow.
