PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nitrogen oxide-removing catalyst for exhaust gas cleaning and which has a high nitrogen oxide-removing capability, excellent activity even at a low temperature, and excellent stochiometric durability and provide an exhaust gas purifying method with high nitrogen oxide-removing efficiency using the catalyst. SOLUTION: This exhaust gas purification catalyst comprises an alumina carrier and silver, palladium, and zinc deposited on the carrier and in a method employing the catalyst for treating nitrogen oxides in an exhaust gas in the presence of a reductive component including hydrocarbons and oxygen in excess of the necessary chemical stoichiometric amount to oxidize the reductive component, nitrogen oxides are treated using the exhaust gas purification catalyst. |
