PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the development of fluttering by obtaining a dangerous sheet passing velocity in each roll diameter group in a vertical type continuous annealing furnace with a specific method. SOLUTION: (1) Density of a materialρs [kg/m<3> ], tension of the material Ts [kg/m<3> ] and length per one pass Lp [m] are substituted into the equation, fs <n> =n/(2.Lp )(Ts .g/ρs )<1/2> to calculate an n-degree fluttering frequency fs <n> and in the case of n<=3, parallel line to an axis of abscissa is drawn. (2) In each roll diameter group, the roll diameter is made to DR[m], and on the case of (m) <=3, radiating line calculated with fR<m> =m.V/(60π.DR) is drawn. In each roll diameter group, the number of the passes is made to Np , and a circle calculated with DF=Kp .Np /(n<2> .m<2> ) to the crossing point with the lines drawn with (1) and (2). Wherein, Np is number of the passes, (n) is the degree of the fluttering, (m) is the degree of rotating frequency of the roll. In each roll diameter group, the sheet passing velocity in the crossing point of fs ' and fR' is made to the dangerous velocity.
