PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical information recording and reproducing apparatus by which information can be exchanged between different kinds of recording mediums by a method wherein an optical card and an optical disk can be recorded/reproduced by using an identical drive. SOLUTION: An optical disk 02 and a plurality of optical cards 01 are mounted on a tray adaptor 10 in such a way that the former is situated in the rotation center and that the latter is situated in the circumference, the adaptor 10 is clamped to a spindle motor 05, and information is recorded pn, and reproduced from, the respective recording mediums. When the information is recorded on, and reproduced from, the optical cards 01, a tray driving motor 06 is driven, the adaptor 10 is turned, the cards 01 are turned, the cards 01 are moved to a tracking direction with reference to an optical head 03, and the information is recorded and reproduced. When the information is recorded on, and reproduced from, the disk 02, the motor 06 is separated from the adaptor 10 by using a retreat motor 07, the disk 02 is turned together with the adaptor 10 by using the motor 05, and the information is recorded and reproduced by using the head 03. Thereby, the head which accesses both mediums can be used in common. |
