COLOR FILTER AND ITS PRODUCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a color filter high in reliability and having a resin black matrix without causing the peeling of films during patterning or in the succeeding process by providing the black matrix with a two-layer structure consisting of a first layer containing no light-shielding agent and a second layer containing a light-shielding agent. SOLUTION: In this color filter, a black matrix formed by dispersing a light- shielding agent in a resin is formed on a light-transmitting substrate. The black matrix has a two-layer structure consisting of a first layer containing no light- shielding agent and a second layer containing a light-shielding agent. The first layer is in contact with the substrate, and the second layer is formed on the first layer. The sum film thickness of the first layer and the second layer is preferably <=1.2μm. The proportion of the light-shielding agent to the resin is preferably >=45wt.%. The light-shielding agent is preferably a carbon black. The resin used is preferably polymide for both of the first and second layers.
