This invention relates to an ice maker for a refrigerator which includes a pair of switches to control the ice dropping mode and the ice level checking mode simultaneously. The ice maker of this invention, which comprises a motor (51); reduction gear assembly (55) and a cam gear (60) which transmit the rotating force of said motor (51) to said ice making container (21); a horizontal position sensing switch (70) for controlling the ice dropping motions of said ice making container (21), ice level checking switch and lever (75,80) for controlling a normal reserving level in said ice reservoir (22); a cam member (65) integrally combined with said cam gear (60) to operate said switches (70,75), is characterized in that said cam member (65) includes a first cam (66) provided at the inner side thereof to operate said horizontal position sensing switch 70 and second cam (67) provided at the outer side thereof to operate said ice level checking switch (75), so that as said cam gear (60) rotates, said horizontal position sensing switch (70) and said ice level checking switch (75) are on or off by said first and second cams (66, 67), thereby performing the control of the ice making mode and ice level checking mode simultaneously.
