The device (1) includes a two optoelectronic modules (1.1,1.2), one having an emitter, e.g. an LED or laser, (8) and the other having a receiver (9), e.g. a photodiode. Each module presents on its front surface (3) two connectors (4) for optical fibre. Each module houses respective dichroic filter pairs (5,6) which are aligned with the connectors and placed at 90 degrees relative to each other. An optical signal of e.g. two frequencies entering one module (1.2) through one of the connectors has signals of one frequency reflected by filter pair and transmitted to the second connector through which it exits the module. The other frequency is partially reflected by the filters and partially transmitted to the receiver. The two modules are mounted in series along an optical fibre (12).
