Oil-lubricated and -cooled gearbox

The gearbox contains two or more intermeshing gearwheels, which are for working in a partial vacuum. Lubricating and cooling oil is fed to the intermeshing point.The cover (8,9) extends over part of the peripheries of the gearwheels (1,2), being close to their teeth and collecting oil droplets from them. Ports (10) in the cover direct the droplets to its rear side, down which they flow and into a sump (12). The ports can be formed by drillings for slits tangential to the adjacent gearwheels
