The invention refers to a process for stretching in longitudinal direction a sheet having at least one layer based on a thermoplastic synthetic material. A slow moving part of the stretching equipment includes at least a propelled roller, while a fast moving part of said stretching equipment comprises at least a pair of propelled rollers, said pair of rollers being arranged in such a way so that a gap is formed therebetween, the sheet being conducted inside said gap so as to be simultaneously pressed and stretched by said pair of rollers.
