A magnetic recording medium and a method for magnetic signal writing on the recording material. The method comprises the first step of forming a magnetic recording layer by applying magnetic paint to the surface of a substrate, the second step of writing signals onto the magnetic recording layer while the magnetic recording layer is wet, and the third step of fixing the written signals by drying the magnetic recording layer immediately after the write operation. In this method, unlike the conventional method, the magnetic recording layer is dried after the write operation onto the wet recording layer. As a result, magnetic particles in the recording layer form density patterns and information is magnetically recorded in the patterns. Therefore, this magnetic recording medium can fix the magnetically recorded signals. When the signals are written by using this method, unauthorized use of magnetic card can be prevented, because the recorded signals are neither erasable nor rewritten.
