<p>An infrared endoscopic apparatus comprises an objective lens (206) for forming a real image (229), at least one relay section (208, 210) for transferring the real image to form an intermediate image (261), and a refracting coupling lens (212) for forming a final image of the intermediate image on an infrared imaging detector (220). The objective lens and relay section share at least one element in common which performs both objective and relay functions. The apparatus further includes a non-imaging warm stop (216) including a planar annulus (274) and a frustum conical surface (270), both being low emissivity reflecting surfaces, to minimize both stray and Narcissus type radiation effects. The apparatus operates at a relatively low f/number to provide high temperature and spatial resolution in the 2 micrometers to 14 micrometers region of the spectrum.</p> |
