A patient lifting device has a lifting axis (53) mounted so as to rotate in a longitudinal cross arm (5) and lifting rollers (54) mounted thereon by means of unilaterally blocking roller bearings. A neck gripper (6), a plurality of body gripper fingers (7) and at least one leg gripper (8) are suspended from the lifting rollers by means of straps. The cross arm can be suspended from swivelling cantilevered arms (4). The gripping members (6, 7 and 8) have each a special design.
