In a method of generating radiation, a gas having a pressure equal to or greater than 10-9 Torr is introduced into an electron orbit in an electron storage ring. The gas is ionized by a circulating electron beam, and the electron beam is focused by ions to accumulate a large current electron beam. Also, a target is disposed on an electron orbit in the electron storage ring, and the electron beam circulating along the electron orbit is caused to hit the target, thereby generating a bremsstrahlung and high-intensity radiation.
