Web press unit suction roller

The suction press roller (10), for the roller press section of a papermaking or cardboard production machine, is a hollow roller with a support roller mantle (14) rotating round a core (12), with an external suction system. Also claimed is a roller press assembly where the mantle surface of the suction press roller (10) forms a gap between it and at least one counter surface for the web to pass through. Preferably an external suction box (16) provides the suction for the interior of the suction press roller (10). The roller mantle (14) is a double mantle with an outer mantle section (18) which is perforated and/or grooved, and a solid inner mantle section (20) which is supported at the inner surface by at least one hydrostatic and/or hydrodynamic support (22) at the yoke (12) passing through the hollow roller structure at least at the zone facing the counter surface working with the roller (10).
