PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture an optical recording medium capable of recording information with the accuracy of an absolute position of a bit unit by periodically inserting the notched bit of a track in addition to a wobble signal, detecting the notched bit and generating a recording/reproducing clock synchronized with the bit. SOLUTION: In this optical recording medium having a track in which one side wall 4 of a groove 2 is wobbled by a wobble signal, this medium is provided with the notched part 5 of the track whose frequency is different from that of the wobble signal, the absolute position of an optical disk is detected by means of a sample bit recorded by the notch of track and an information bit is recorded by a recording/reproducing clock synchronized with the position. By forming such a notched part, the bit is always recorded on the same information bit position every time rewriting is performed, conventional gap area and buffer area are unnecessary and a recording area is effectively utilized. |
