SCLERAL PLUG CONTAINING PROTEINACEOUS MEDICINE

A technique is provided which enables proteinaceous medicines, such as interferon- beta , to be effectively applied to diseases of intraocular portions, such as the vitreous body or retina. Specifically, a composition comprising a proteinaceous medicine adsorbed onto the surfaces of fine particles of a lactic acid copolymer; and a scleral plug prepared by molding this composition. The average particle diameter of the fine particle is less than 1000 nm, preferably 50 to 500 nm. The proteinaceous medicine is, for example, interferon, particularly interferon- beta . Preferably, the lactic acid copolymer comprises lactic acid units and glycolic acid units.
