PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a deoxygenating agent by reuse of waste material of used magnetic recording media by forming swell on a coated magnetic recording medium in a facial direction and making the recording medium retain polyelectrolyte. SOLUTION: A magnetic layer primarily consisting of ferromagnetic metal particles such as iron, nickel and the like and a bonding agent is formed on a substrate such as polyethylene terephthalate or the like to make a coated magnetic recording medium. Swell is formed in a facial direction of a used magnetic recording medium so that a space is formed between two fiagments of the magnetic recording medium when the two fiagments are disposed to overlap one another. Diffusion of air, therefore, is enhanced so that capacity of deoxygenation of the ferromagnetic metal particles can be sufficiently exerted. When the magnetic layer is made to retain a polyelectrolyte such as acrylic acid, metacrylic acid and the like therein, ions of the polyelectrolyte functions to enhance oxidation of the ferromagnetic metal particles so that activity of deoxygenation is enhanced. |
