PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a fiber treating agent, containing porous particles of a poly-α-amino acid and capable of enclosing a bioactive material therein and imparting heat retaining properties excellent in resistance to washing of a textile product. SOLUTION: This fiber treating agent is obtained according to a method for carrying out an emulsion polymerization ofγ-benzyl-L-glutamate-N-carbonic anhydride in the presence of a polymerization initiator such as triethylamine, providing an emulsion of poly-γ-benzyl-L-glutamate, then removing an organic solvent by a steam stripping, separating the produced particles from a dispersion medium by filtration, etc., thereby producing the porous particles of the poly-α- amino acid having 0.01-100μm, preferably 0.05-50μm average particle diameter and preparing an aqueous emulsion containing the porous particles of the poly-α- amino acid. The resultant fiber treating agent is capable of imparting heat retaining properties to a textile product. |
