The detector contains at least one pair of electrodes (12, 13) which are applied to the wood in a non-destructive manner and are used to pass an electric current (I) through the layers (2-4) inside the wood. Voltages caused by the current and the conductance of the wood layers are recorded using at least one pair of measurement electrodes (14-15). A processor supplied with information from the measurement electrodes is used to indicate the presence of anomalies etc., based on differences in electrical conductance in one or more of the layers. An Independent claim is also included for the use of the above detector to look for anomalies etc. in wood or timber. |
