The fixture includes an axial body (2) such as an electrically conductive terminal which is fitted into a container (3) and secured by the metallic ring (4) surrounded by a glass ring (5) of equal length. For a pressurised container the portion (2a) of the body within the rings is slightly tapered with its maximum diameter (D1) at the inner end. The interface (4a) between the glass and the surrounding metal is similarly tapered with its maximum diameter (D2) at the inner end. For a vacuum container the taper of the body and the rings is in the opposite direction.
