<p>A DC linear motor is cooled by providing a cooling duct (22) extending transversely through the base (18) mounting a coil (19, 20, 21). The coil is movable along a track (13) which is parallel to an extended permanent magnet (11, 12). The cooling air is directed transversely along the width of the base. The compressed air passes through the duct and exits ports which extend transversely relative to the duct and the track. The air is ejected into the air gap (26) between the permanent magnets and the coil.</p> |
