A spindle bearing assembly has a rolling-element bearing (11) with an inner ring (12) rotatably fixed to a spindle (10) and an outer ring (13) fitted into a recessed portion of an inner annular block (16) of a linear ball cage device (15). The device has a stationary annular outer block (19) and a set of balls (20) with a cage between the inner and outer blocks (16, 19). The inner block (16) is a multi-part construction to provide an internal passage (21) for passing coolant therethrough. The device (15) serves to guide the bearing (11) for axial displacement along with the spindle (10). |
