PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document conversion device which can automatically generate a structuralized document having a structure that is suitable to its display on a display. SOLUTION: The text elements showing the document contents are deleted from an original document, i.e., a structuralized document produced in a document description language, and a title page consisting of a title element and its corresponding element TE1 is produced. The element TE1 is extracted from the original document, and a tentative document page is decided and divided. Thus a document page that can be stored in a single screen of a display is obtained. Then the element TE1 of the title page is linked with its corresponding document page, and the selection is designated between both corresponding title elements TE1 and TE2 via a mouse, etc., in a state where the title pace is shown on the display. Thus the screen is switched to the corresponding document page. At the same time, a header is properly added to each document page, so that the screen can be switched to the title page or another document page. A display document consisting of converted title page and document pages has its unified data and can be read by a reader like an ordinary book. |
