SIGNAL RECEPTION SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a symbol timing reproducing system capable of supporting one or more symbol rates. SOLUTION: A sample source 10 for indicating received signals is sampled by a fixed frequency. An interpolation device 12 is connected to the sample source 10 and responds to control signals. The interpolation device 12 generates samples taken at the point of time of being synchronized with continuous symbols from a transmitter. A phase error detector 16 is connected to the interpolation device 12, detects a phase error between the point of time of the samples synchronized with the transmitter generated from the interpolation device 12 and the point of time of the continuous symbols of the transmitter and generates phase error signals. The phase error signals are connected to one of the input terminals of an adder 32 and a nominal delay signal source 31 is connected to the other terminal. Numerically controlled delay devices 34-46 generate the control signals for the interpolation device 12 in response to the signals from the adder. Output signals from the interpolation device 12 are filtered in a non-adaptive fixed pulse shaping filter 14.
