PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a coating composition containing white microparticles dispersed in a short time, being easily handleable and being capable of providing final products by series of processes with a single apparatus when it is used in a thermal transfer recording process by mixing a copolymer resin made of a vinyl chloride resin and a vinyl acetate resin with white micrparticles. SOLUTION: This composition essentially consists of a copolymer resin made of a vinyl chloride resin and a vinyl acetate resin and white microparticles. Examples of the white microparticles used include titanium oxide, barium sulfate, calcium carbonate and silica, among which rutile titanium oxide is desirable. When compared with anatase titanium oxide, rutile titanium oxide has good whiteness and hiding power and therefor it has excellent properties as the microparticles for whitening. The solvents used include ketonic, aromatic and alcoholic solvents which may be used alone or in the form of a mixture. When toluene and 2-butanone are used among them, a coating composition which can be easily dried and can provide even coating surfaces can be obtained. |
