Each input terminal (1) is connected with an inputting section (2), in which a first selector (22) outputs input signals to a discrimination circuit (23), rise detecting circuit (24), or fall detecting circuit (25) in accordance with the setting of a register (4). The discrimination circuit (23) passes the input signals to a counter. The rise detecting circuit (24) and fall detecting circuit (25) detect transitions of the signals and use them for processing an interruption. When a CPU (3) changes the setting of the register (4), the input signals connected to the input terminal (1) can be switched for one of a plurality of functions.
