PURPOSE:To enhance, in improving the efficiency of a water cooler using U-shaped heat exchanger tubes, the heat exchanger effectiveness between refrigerant and water in a water chamber by opening holes for passing water in the center or near the center through only a single baffle plate disposed at the U-shaped section of the heat exchanger tubes. CONSTITUTION:Cooling water comes in by an inlet 3 and flows through a chamber between a tube plate 13 and a baffle plate 6, another between the baffle plate 6 and a baffle plate 7, and to the middle of a water chamber 9 between a baffle plate 6 and a baffle plate 5. Some of the cooling water thence takes its curse downward, through the interspaces between U-shaped heat exchanger tubes 11 and 12, and passes under the baffle plate 5, and after passing through the gaps 16, flows out by an outlet 4. The cooling water in the middle of the water chamber 9 flows into a water chamber 8 through a plurality of holes 15 opened in the middle of the baffle plate 5, passes the U-shaped heat exchanger tubes ranging from the innermost one 11 to the outermost one 12 and flows out by the outlet 4. Since thus the cooling water flows not only through the gaps 16 but past the innermost U-shaped heat exchanger tubes 11 copiously, the heat exchanger effectiveness between the refrigerant and the water in the water chamber 8 is enhanced as a result. |
