PURPOSE:To enhance thermal transferability to a surface poor in wettability, by producing a ribbon base through providing a transferability controlling layer comprising a heat sensitive adhesive resin, a tackifying resin and a high molecular weight surface modifier on an ink layer. CONSTITUTION:An ink layer 12 is provided on one side of a film-shaped ribbon base 11, and a transferability controlling layer 13 is provided in a predetermined thickness on the ink layer to produce a thermal transfer ink ribbon 10 for production of a dry-type transfer material. The transferability controlling layer 13 is formed from a mixture of at least one resin having a high film-forming property and a high heat sensitive adhesive property, e.g., an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, a polyvinyl acetate or an ionomer, with at least one tackifying resin having a high cohesive strength, e.g., a petroleum resin or rosin. It is possible to transfer a predetermined ink image in a body, without leaving on the base sheet the ink to be transferred. |
