PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a stable aqueous dispersion of propolis, that is, a water- insoluble rosin-like material collected from the entrances of bees in a honeycomb and to provide a method for preparing the dispersion. SOLUTION: This aqueous dispersion of propolis consists of honey, oligosaccharides and cyclodextrins. The propolis is dispersed as fine particles having an average particle diameter of <=5μm. Further, in order to prepare an aqueous dispersion of the propolis, a dense solution of a cyclodextrin is added to an alcohol solution of the propolis and the mixture is treated by ultrasonic wave to disperse into fine particles. The fine particles of propolis is made to be included in the cyclodextrin, and subsequently the alcohol is removed by evaporation followed by heat sterilization. |
